WANA (May 09) – Behrouz Kamalvandi, Deputy Head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, responded to recent remarks by the U.S. Secretary of State, emphasizing that Iran is not the only country enriching uranium without possessing nuclear weapons.

In reaction to the U.S. Secretary of State’s claim that Iran is the only nation engaged in uranium enrichment without having nuclear arms, Kamalvandi stated, “These comments stem from a lack of accurate information, and it is surprising that such a statement would be made by a high-ranking official without proper research.”

He referred to countries such as Belgium, the Netherlands, South Korea, Japan, Argentina, and Germany as examples of nations that have active uranium enrichment programs without owning nuclear weapons. “Therefore,” he added, “the claim that Iran is unique in this regard is incorrect.”

These remarks come amid ongoing discussions about Iran’s nuclear program and its interpretation on the international stage.
